Effective Flood Barrier System

Every Big Bags USA Flood Barrier System is made out of the highest quality materials in the heart of the USA... right in Missouri!

Each Big Bags System Includes:

  • Our 50 lbs. (22.25 km) lightweight accordion design.
  • Five 27 cu. ft. (35.28 cu. m.) high-strength polypropylene Big Bags.
  • The patented U-frame design allows the systems to open up and remain standing, in place, for filling. Any number of systems can be connected together.
  • Tightly woven utility loops for easy lifting and deployment.
  • Optional closed-top Big Bags USA systems for submerging underwater. Often used for coffer dams.
  • The highest in Ultra-Violet protection available.
  • 50-year shelf life.

Big Bags USA protective flood barrier systems consist of five, one cubic yard sandbags

The dimensions of the system are 40” in height, 36” in width, and 180” in length. The lightweight expandable accordion-like, sandbags flood barrier enables one laborer to easily move the systems into position while using a minimum of storage.

Every individual one cubic yard sandbag is composed of a woven high strength Polypropylene. Our polypropylene sandbags offer the highest UV protection and an impenetrable woven waterside, protecting sand from contamination. The result is a greater spectrum of end-use of your resources. Every flood barrier has a filling capacity of 2,700-3,400 lbs. depending on the moisture and clay content of the sand. The sandbags themselves and the utility loops have been rated at 4,400 lbs., leaving plenty of space for marginal variables.

A flood barrier system in use

One five-bag flood barrier system filled and deployed will weigh up to 17,000 lbs., considerably less than the 20,520 - 25,840 lbs. of a conventional sandbag barrier of the same dimensions. The principal concept of Big Bags USA flood barrier systems is the ground-conforming sandbags method without the “dead space” of conventional sandbags barriers.

Big Bags USA protective flood barrier systems are stackable for threats higher than the base 40”. Using a pyramid configuration, meaning for every vertical system you will need one horizontal system, compared to sandbags that have twice the base width compared to height. Using this configuration, heights of 196” or more can easily be achieved.

In situations when Big Bags USA flood barriers will receive over-topping or will be submerged, a closed-top system is recommended. Close-top flood barrier systems offer all the capabilities and dimensions of our open-top systems while providing the extra protection of enveloping fill material within the Big Bags USA flood barrier system. The feature of the closed-top systems prevents erosion and failure of your flood barrier system and protects against possible sedimentation introduction into the environment.

Cost and Savings

Big Bags USA protective flood barrier's simplistic design allows more systems to be deployed by fewer workers using less training and natural resources than sandbags.

There are many protective flood barrier products on the market to stop, prevent and divert the flow of water and land containment. While many of these products work well, we feel it is best to identify any unique demands of the situation and consider cost, time, resources, length of deployment, clean-up cost, and finally, the end-use or reuse of your flood barrier product.

The benefits of using Big Bags USA sandbags barrier are many and varied. The most notable is price comparison. We offer the high-quality Big Bags USA sandbags flood barrier at a great economical price with the most affordable price per linear foot. Another highly notable benefit to Big Bags USA sandbags protective flood barrier is the reduced amount of resources that are needed to deploy the systems.

One Big Bags USA protective flood barrier system replaces 750 regular sandbags. This is just in the footprint! If you were to stack regular sandbags to meet 40” in height, it would equal to 1500 sandbags. By using the Big Bags USA systems you save 52% on the raw materials alone.

Compare Big Bags and Sandbags Man Power and Hours Per Mile Deployed

Saving sand saves on operating costs, less freight and machine maintenance, less fuel cost, and less labor all contribute to a better-looking bottom line. In addition to your savings in deployment, Big Bags USA sandbags flood barrier offers more ways to save.
The waterside of the Big Bags USA protective flood barrier systems is impermeable; this means our sand is protected against harmful contaminants. Uncontaminated sand can be sold back to quarries at a reduced price or used in projects that would otherwise need new sand products. Big Bags USA sandbags systems are reusable and contain no harmful chemicals or materials, giving them a low cost of reuse and disposal compared to other flood barriers.
